The District Chief Executive for Offinso North, Mr Samuel Appiah-Kubi has stated that the time has come for assembly members to assist management of the Assembly to find new ways of generating revenue instead of the over-reliance on the District Assemblies’ Common Fund whose disbursement often takes a long time.

This he noted would enable the assembly raise enough revenue to execute projects locally. The DCE threw the charge to the assembly in an address he delivered at the second Ordinary Meeting of the third Session of the Assembly at Akumadan, the district capital.

He also urged the assembly members to show keen interest in the street naming and property numbering exercise by assisting the institutions mandated with this assignment to produce excellent results, saying, a proper street naming can improve the revenue collection efforts of the assembly and other revenue agencies of the nation.

Mr Appiah-Kubi also called for the need to step out revenue collection to meet the numerous development needs of the people. The DCE disclosed that as of August 2013, the Assembly had collected GH¢125,778.61 from its local sources representing 49.86% of its annual targeted figure of GH¢252,264.00

He said a check point at Nkwakwaa, training of revenue collectors among others are measures put in place by the assembly to improve revenue mobilisation in the coming year. He therefore, congratulated members on their contribution towards building a Better Ghana and asked them to do more in executing the Better Ghana agenda.
