The Offinso North District Assembly of the Ashanti Region has established a complaint unit within the assembly as part of efforts to improve governance at the local level.

The District Executive Chief for the area, Mr Samuel Appiah-Kubi who disclosed this during the general assembly meeting, said the unit would be handled by the Information Services Department (ISD).

He also tasked the ISD to design a programme to educate the people on the policies and programmes of the assembly. This he said would go a long way to enable the people contribute meaningfully to the development of the area. He said the assembly had attached seriousness to the programme and would do everything to ensure it success and sustainability. 

Mr Appiah-Kubi stated that with the establishment of the complaint unit, he hoped that the people would channel their grievances or complains through the unit to the management for redress rather than an individual complain saying, “if this is done, it would go a long way to promote good governance and also strengthen the structures of the assembly to deliver on its mandate”.

He therefore, appealed to assembly members to educate their electorates on the subject matter to enable them participate fully.
