The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Kwasi Opong-Fosu, has assured the Chiefs and people of Kasoa of government’s commitment towards the development of the area.
He gave the assurance at the beginning of a one-day inspection tour of the Kasoa Odikro’s Palace in Kasoa and the Kasoa Old market.
The objective of tour was to familiarised himself with the municipality and also to assure the people of government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to problems created by the activities of traders who have taken over the Kasoa High street.
Touching on issues concerning the traders at the old market, he said there was the need to do what was right, notwithstanding the political party in power, in order to move the country forward.
He attributed the traders’ refusal to return to the designated market place to the lack of planning.
He urged the citizenry to see the efforts made by government as part of government’s commitment to building a better a nation for everyone.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Awutu-Senya Municipal Assembly, Hon. Dr Adams Nuhu, explained that the issue behind the Kasoa old market was that compensation had not yet been paid to the traders to enable them move to the new market.
Dr Adams appealed to the Minister to help make the necessary interventions to help alleviate the plight of the people as Kasoa was now densely populated.
He called on Ghana Water Company to set up an office in the municipality to deliver safe and potable water to the people.
