The Awutu Senya District Chief Executive, Adams Nuhu has called on both the ruling and the opposition political parties in the country to carry out their campaigns devoid of acrimony even as we approach the much anticipated 2012 general election.
He said peaceful election can only be achieved if politicians who are given political platforms to campaign and seek victory for their various political parties isolate themselves from politics of insults.
“The general election is about 5 months away and I must indicate that we should endeavour as political parties to carry our campaigns devoid of acrimony and rancor so that we have peaceful elections”. He noted.
He however assured that government as well as the Electoral Commission will do its possible best to ensure “free and fair” election.
The DCE said this when he was inaugurating the newly created Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly added that the people of Kasoa and its surroundings communities should be more appreciative to government for its effort to strengthen democracy and decentralization.
Mr. Nuhu said the newly created district will bring massive development to the people of Kasoa, citing example that about 260 schools in the area, only a few of about 6 are state owned whereas the remaining 254 are private owned.
He called for support for the assembly to speed up development in the area.
