ADANSI N.: A/R Minister cuts sod for water project.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah has cut sod for the construction of a small water project in the Akrokerri township.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah has cut sod for the construction of a small water project in the Akrokerri township.
In his speech before he commissioned the project, he said over 60% of the country’s population in the rural areas have received portable drinking water from the government adding that the significance of water was seen in the presentation of water and sanitation related diseases with improvement in health.
He said for the population of fifteen thousand, two boreholes were not sufficient, there was therefore the need for the construction of portable drinking water to the community.
The Ashanti Regional Minister said the project was a joint partnership between the Adansi North District Assembly and the Community Water and Sanitation under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing.
The project which cost GH¢ 1.8 million would be completed within eight months.
The Minister advised the company, Messrs Nestaco Venture’s to do a quality job and also encouraged all eligible voters to register in the on-going biometric registration.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) Alhaji Lateef Majdoud in his address said the Assembly had numerous successes in solving key problems. These include the construction of a dormitory block and a three unit classroom block for Asare Bediako Senior High School, construction of Islamic Primary school block, mechanization of bore hole to supply water and rehabilitation of Akrokerri town roads to Asare Bediako Senior High School.
Also, the DCE promised Akrokerri number 3, twelve sanitaion faciities and street lights to give a face lift to the town.
Later on, a fifteen-member water board was formed to manage the water situation in the community.
