A Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Luisa Hannah Bisiw, has appealed to the youth to show strong inclination towards farming because it was rewarding.
She said they should take the initiative to create their own businesses and stop wandering the cities in the elusive search for white colour jobs.
Dr. Bisiw, the Member of Parliament for Tano-South, was inaugurating a branch of the International Foundation for Generational Thinkers, a non-government organization (NGO) at Techimantia in the Tano-South District.
She said the youth should accept to live within the law, respect those in authority and repudiate acts of indiscipline and that they needed to channel their abundant energies into productive ventures and refuse to be part of any agenda to hold the society back.
Miss Nusrat Tachie-Mensah, General Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students, congratulated the government for restraining heads of senior high schools (SHS) from charging unapproved fees during this year’s admission of fresh students.
She, however, asked that the decision to withdraw allowances for teacher-trainees must be reviewed.
Mr. Ernest Tetteh Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, said its goal was to inspire, motivate and guide the youth to lead dignified lives and would provide the platform for the young people to project their efficiency and creative power and crave for wisdom and knowledge.
