The Atiwa District Assembly is making efforts to sell out its economic potentials to the world for patronage as a way of enhancing economic activities in the district.

As such a durbar was held to raise awareness about the existence of the Tini Waterfalls at Adasawase. District Chief Executive of Atiwa, Emmanuel Atta Twum said the durbar has become necessary to draw people’s attention to the existence of the waterfall, adding that even though the receptive centre of the waterfall was commissioned way back in 2010, the place continue to register poor patronage.

He therefore used the occasion to call on holiday makers, keep fit clubs, students and corporate organizations to patronize the place since it offers very good environment for relaxation and exercise.

The DCE also disclosed that the assembly is making plans to develop
other tourism potentials in the area including putting up a museum for the display of artifacts, while a dedicated website on tourism potentials in the district would also be designed to make it easy for people to quickly identify areas of interest to visit in the district.

He urged the citizens and all well meaning Ghanaians to work to protect and project the cultural heritage of the Ghanaian.

Mr. Twum noted that government is committed to partnering the private sector to accelerate development in all sectors of the economy as such the assembly is ready to enter into public-private partnership to develop the various tourism potentials in the district. He therefore called on all interested private businessmen out there with interest in the tourism to approach the assembly for negotiations.

He was however worried about the level of environmental degradation caused by illegal mining a situation that currently poses major threat to forest reserves in the area.

He thus appeal to chiefs and other traditional authorities to work with the assembly to curb illegal mining to protect the environment as well as reduce social vices like school dropout, teenage pregnancy, and violent behaviors among the youth.
