District Chief Executive for the Atiwa District in the eastern region, Emmanuel Atta Twum on Friday commissioned a new workshop at the Integrated Community centre for Employable skill, a vocational training centre at Akrufufu.

The workshop constructed by the assembly at the cost of eighty four thousand seven hundred and eighty seven Ghana cedis (GHs84, 787.00) from its share of the district development fund (DDF) is to facilitate teaching and learning and acquisition of skills through practical experiences.

The training centre target especially students who want to venture into areas like carpentry masonry, batik tire and dye, hairdressing, sawing and the likes.

Commissioning the facility, the DCE called on students in the area to take advantage of the training centre to acquire employable skills in order to be self sufficient in the future. According to him, most trainees currently at the school are from other places which give the impression that children in the immediate communities of the centre are not bothered.

He also reminded the chiefs and the entire community of the need to support the centre to provide quality training to the students.

The people commended the DCE for fulfilling the promise to the school. According to them, the quest to construct the workshop was initiated since 2003 but help never came.
