On the local front, the DCE detailed ongoing infrastructural projects aimed at improving the educational landscape in Atwima Mponua. Key projects include a new Kindergarten block with ancillary facilities in Akotaa, a six-unit classroom block in Agogoso, and the distribution of over 1,000 dual desks to schools across the district.
The Main Event: Celebrating Educational Excellence
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the special awards ceremony dedicated to the district's dedicated teachers. With support from the ISMAT Foundation, an initiative facilitated by Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, fourteen outstanding educators were recognized for their tireless service.
The awards spanned several categories, acknowledging a wide range of contributions:
* Long Serving Teachers
* Most Promising Teacher
* Outstanding Teachers
* Best Teacher in Administration
* Teachers Serving in Hard-to-Reach Communities
The rewards were as impactful as the recognition itself. Winners went home with refrigerators, television sets, gas cookers with stoves, cash prizes, and citations, sparking thunderous applause and spontaneous chants of the DCE’s name from an appreciative crowd.
"The initiative was a thoughtful way of appreciating the hard work of teachers," one onlooker commented, capturing the general sentiment of the day.
Adding to the academic focus, two exceptional students who excelled in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were also awarded cash prizes for their outstanding performance.
As the celebrations concluded, the message from Atwima Mponua was clear: this year’s Independence Day was about more than just parades and speeches. It was a powerful statement about honoring dedication, rewarding excellence, and inspiring the next generation of leaders by first celebrating those who teach them.
