The Agona West Municipal Assembly in the Central Region is organizing mock examination for all final year students at the junior high schools due for writing their final exams this year.
The assembly financed every cost from printing to supervision and marking to ensure the success of the exercise.
Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive for Agona West, Samuel Oppong said the municipality performed abysmally in last year’s BECE and this current measure is to prepare the students adequately for the exams.
He added that the assembly is not ready witness any school scoring zero percent anymore. “This is why we are not focusing on the public schools alone but added the private schools as well", the MCE added.
Beyond this measure, Mr. Samuel Oppong said the assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate is meeting teachers to sign performance agreement to put them on their toes for improved academic work.
The agreement to be signed on zonal basis will be supervised by the Municipal Education Directorate and this is expected to among other things reduce absenteeism among the teachers and offer students ample instructional time. School management teams/Parent-Teachers Associations are not left out since their input is very crucial to the attainment of the set goals.
The mock exams starts tomorrow.
