An 18-seater lavatory constructed by Onua-Onua, a private business entity valued at GH¢ 85,000, has been inaugurated at the Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital.

An 18-seater lavatory constructed by Onua-Onua, a private business entity valued at GH¢ 85,000, has been inaugurated at the Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital.

The facility would produce biogas to provide energy to the kitchen of the hospital and also ease the pressure on existing toilet facilities.

Mr Samuel Oppong, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who inaugurated the facility said the Assembly is ready to partner private companies to improve sanitation, education, health and water services in the area.

He said the Environmental Health Office of the Assembly has been charged to make cost benefit analysis of the project to enable the Assembly put up more of its kind.

The MCE said government has put in motion plans to construct new Hospital at Agona Swedru.

Dr Apetorgbor Dzordzegbe, Medical Superintendent of Swedru Municipal Hospital said the facility would help ease problems relatives of patients and other visitors to the hospital face when they want to attend nature’s call.

He expressed joy that the lavatory would generate energy for the hospital to help reduce the cost of buying gas.

Mr Paul Ankomah, Manager of Onua-Onua Company said similar facility have been constructed at Agona Nyakrom, Abodom and other towns in the Municipality.
