Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, Member of Parliament for Agona West, said the youth constituted the future workforce of the nation and should acquire knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to that effect.
He said the Government, parents and other stakeholders must do their best in the proper grooming and education of children.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom said this at a durbar of chiefs and people of Gomoa Otapirow in the Agona West Municipality to run-off their Akwambo Festival.
He said without education the country would not have the effective human resource base to administer affairs and there was the need, therefore, for all to let the education of the children be the topmost priority.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom said he would ensure that the only road to the town was rehabilitated to make it accessible and urged the people to continue to contribute their quota to development.
He commended the chiefs and people for the peaceful celebration and called for a sustenance of the unity and tolerance of each other’s views.
He presented an undisclosed amount of money to the community.
Nana Osmpa Nyamekye II, Chief of the town, said the town lacked social amities such as poor roads and inadequate educational facilities.
He, therefore, appealed to the assembly and the Government to come to their aid and urged the youth to participate in communal labour to help develop the area.
