AGONA W: Assembly collects more revenue

The Agona West Assembly has as at November, 2013 collected an amount of 841,147.00 Ghana Cedis against a total of 863,350.00 Ghana Cedis, budgeted Internal Generation Fund (IGF) for the whole of last year.

The Agona West Assembly has as at November, 2013 collected an amount of 841,147.00 Ghana Cedis against a total of 863,350.00 Ghana Cedis, budgeted Internal Generation Fund (IGF) for the whole of last year.

Mr Samuel Oppong, Chief Executive for the Municipality disclosed this at the 3rd Ordinary meeting of the 2nd Session of the 6th Assembly meeting held at Agona swedru.

According to Mr Oppong, they set up a temporary structure and building permit Task Forces in the second and the last quarters of last year and despite numerous challenges, the task force encountered, they were able to collect this much.

He said, as a result, the Assembly desired to use some of the IGF to purchase a brand new Vehicle (Pick-Up) with a comprehensive insurance cover at a cost of 61,717.54 Ghana Cedis to help enhance the work of the task forces.

Mr Oppong used the meeting to commend the members of the task force for the good work done and urged them to continue to work harder to help collect more revenues for the Assembly.

He also disclosed that the Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Assembly and other investors were considering the establishment of a large scale palm oil production facility in the Municipality.

The MCE said preliminary engagements had been held with some farmers to set up out grower centers and hoped the initiative if fully realized would go along way provide employment for the youth.

He appealed to the Assembly members to continue to advise their electorates on the need to honour their tax obligation and also to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to putting up buildings and other structures.
