The chiefs and people of the Bimoba Traditional area in the Bunkpurugu District have appealed to government to factor the road from Binde to the Togo Boarder for reconstruction.
Naa Alhaji Abuba Nasinmong, the paramount chief of the Bimoba Traditional area who made the appeal on behalf of his people also called on the President John Dramani Mahama to also consider Bimobas in the appointments of your Ministers, Ambassadors, Chief Directors, Board members among others, adding that this would help facilitate their quest for building a united society for accelerated development. He commended government for the numerous development projects extended to the area so far, but reminded the president of their needs.
Naa Alhaji Abuba Nasinmong, made the appeal at the celebration of the Ti Taan Di Nan Leeb Jaam (Lets feast together) festival the festival is celebrated annually to unite the people, through socialization and the likes. It is also a period used to thank the gods for their protection throughout the year and ask for blessings for the following year.
In spite of its importance, the festival was abandoned some centuries ago due to the introduction of the Bunkum festival celebrated by all within Bimoba.
However, signs of disunity and rampant petty squabbles amongst the people in the past few decades compelled the elders to re-institute the festival in November, 2008 to safeguard the peace and unity of the traditional area. The elders belief that, re-instituting the celebration of the Ti Taan Di Nan Leeb Jaam is the way forward to achieving this and ensuring development of the Bimoba land.
District Chief Executive for Bunkpurugu, Philip Laari advised the gathering especially Bimobas and Konkombas to unite for a common goal of development.
He noted that politics is breaking the strong force of the people and unless people give a rethink to the way they do politics the area will lag behind.
