As most Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies in the country struggles to meet their revenue targets, most of them continue to strategize to get themselves out of the thir financial predicaments by adopting a number of measures.

As most Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies in the country struggles to meet their revenue targets, most of them continue to strategize to get themselves out of the thir financial predicaments by adopting a number of measures.

The Gomoa West District in the Central region on its part is to privatize revenue collection in order to ensure the assembly increases its internally generated fund (IGF). The assembly has started negotiations with two companies; Case Consult and Heinz Integrated Systems Limited for an agreement to be signed for them to commence operations.

Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, Disrict Chief Executive also noted with concern the inability of Town/Area Councils to fuction effectively in collecting revenue from their jurisdictions. According, management has realized that most of them do not know items that have been ceded to them and urged them to abreast themselves on the items.

The DCE also disclosed that the assembly has written to the Local Government Service Secretariat and the Central Regional Coordinating Council to post a more qualified revenue Superintendent to the Assembly to assist in revenue mobilization.
