The Asuogyaman District Assembly in the Eastern Region is to set up a taskforce to help instill displine especially among road users.
District Chief executive, , Thomas Ampem Nyarko made the disclosure when he met with Executives of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at Asikuma as part of a working tour of the district.
Mr. Ampem Nyarko was particular unhappy about the way drivers forget that they are not the only users of the road and park at areas which posses danger to others. In viewof this, the DCE announced that he has instructed authorities to erect road signs along the road so that drivers would not complain of lack of road signs for their recklessness on the road.
The DCE also used the occasion to urge the executives to ensure that drivers pay their toll to help the assembly to raise money to carry out important development projects. He also assured the people of assistance to ensure the station looks good and convenient enough for use.
The executives on their part were hopeful the new initiate would reduce indiscipline and prevent needless accidents.
Meanwhile, the work of the taskforce would not be limited to drivers alone but all aspects of happenings in the society including ensuring people put up structures only at approved areas, and ensure environmental cleanliness.
