The Assembly member for Kologo electoral area, in the Kassena Nankana East district, Amoah A. Charles has indicated that Kologo health centre, a major facility in the area which churns healthcare services to inhabitants, duly requires support to give it a facelift and boost operations at the facility.
According to him, it was possible some of the several challenges the facility was inundated with could imperceptibly slip its effectiveness in the delivery of quality healthcare services, hence called for immediate intervention to save it from nose diving.
Highlighting this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Assembly member revealed that it was hard to access water within the facility due to a malfunctioning overhead tank which has been left unattended to since it broke down.
He claimed workers at the facility due to this problem were always compelled to go out of the premises of the health centre to nearby areas before they can get water for use at the facility.
Besides he said, the facility was critically under-staffed which tends to cause pressure for the few workers at the facility on daily basis, whiles the facility also lacks adequate bed for patients who are on admission.
He also pointed out that the nurses’ quarters for the facility needs serious rehabilitation in order to enhance it to boost the living conditions of health workers assigned at the centre.
He was even worried that the Kologo health facility since its completion in 2006 had not been commissioned yet, however he stressed that efforts should be geared to improving and retooling the facility to enhance quality health delivery at the centre.
