Wabilinsa Assemblyman, in the Builsa District, Anang A. James is pressing for additional classroom blocks for the lone Kindergarten(Kg) school in the whole area, as pupils from primary two and beyond are forced to trek long distances to nearby towns to school.
The Wabilinsa Kg with a school population of about 150 only have a makeshift structure which occupies pupils in primary One for primary education, whiles the others from primary two and beyond will have to endure not less that 5km walking distance to Farinsa, a nearby town to school every morning.
The Assemblyman expressed the worrying concerns in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com to give a spotlight on the developmental challenges in the Wabilinsa electoral area.
He pleaded with the assembly and government to at least commit to building additional structure to enable the school to run from the Kg to primary six, to ostensibly curtail the undue stress of school children in trekking long distances to school.
Meanwhile, the Assembly member has also called on the assembly to expand the coverage in the ongoing electrification project in the area.
He said currently about 55% will duly be connected to the national grid when the project is accomplished whiles 45% would get no electricity.
He also bemoaned the slow movement of the whole project, noting that it was not progressing and feared contractors would be unable to complete it within the deadline scheduled for it.
Besides he said the contractor was not presently at the project site, but has assured him that wiring works will start soon.
