School children in the Uwasi Electoral Area in the Builsa District, are bound to stop classes during rainy seasons because of the poor shape of the Uwasi-Fumbisi stretch of the road.
Residents complain that due to some rivers along that particular road which always overflow their banks in the perennial rainy seasons, the road completely becomes impassable for commuters to use and the worst affected are school children in the community.
In an interaction with Ghanadistricts.com the Assembly member for the area, Avamuti Bawa noted that this worrying problem had become critical because of the absence of a Junior High School to serve pupils in the Uwasi Electoral Area.”The only educational facility in the area is the Uwasi Primary school”, he added.
As a result of this, pupils after completing Primary Six in the Uwasi Primary are compelled to access a junior high school in Fumbisi, a community nearby in the area.
The Assembly member has therefore called on government and the Assembly to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the people and construct a culvert on that stretch which would aid travelling on that road.
He also appealed for the construction of more schools to give leverage for children in the area in terms of education.
