Communities in the Builsa District will soon be relieved of the problem of accessing potable water, when the Japanese Embassy finally approves of the funding of the Chuchuliga Water Project in the area.
Presently, talks are underway to lobby the Embassy into financing the rehabilitation of the Chuchuliga water system which is currently in a bad shape. Due to the poor condition of the facility, most communities of the area are grappled with water.
The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, Timothy Awontiirim Ataboadey who is spearheading these negotiations said the revamping of the Chuchuliga water system and the rehabilitation of two other collapsed dams in the area are expected to cost the Embassy an estimated amount of 150,000 US dollars.
For sometime now, access to potable water has been a major challenge in the area, as the Chuchuliga water system which the area depended on is at a collapse state. As a result the facility is unable to produce adequate water for residents in the area forcing some of the residents to resort to unhygienic water sources.
The project when completed would go a long way to address the perennial water shortages in the Chuchuliga Traditional Area and other surrounding communities in the Builsa District.
Nana Adwoa Achaw, a representative of the Japanese Embassy disclosed that the project was among eight (8) projects out of 300 other proposals that were chosen by the embassy for financing this year.
