The Headmaster of Agona Swedru National Vocational Training School,Mr Bernard Banaza, has indicated that payment of subsidies to vocational institutions has ceased four years ago, thus pleaded to government to reconsider meeting this provision again.
According to him, all Vocational institutions are going through financial crisis to manage the schools, adding that the schools are relying solely on school fees to run the institutions and this is inadequate.
He then appealed to the government to fulfil financial commitments to vocational and technical institutions to ensure quality skills training for the youth.
Mr Banaza appealed to the government to consider the good role these institutions play in the development of the country and give them their needs.
The Headmaster said that these schools give skill training to the vulnerable and underprivileged Ghanaians youth to enable them become responsible adults.
He mentioned lack of means of transportation, computer laboratory, bole holes, furniture and renovation of the existing structures as some the difficulties facing the institute.
Mr Banaza appealed to the government and the Agona West Municipal Assembly to build additional classrooms and dormitories for the school and urged the government to expedite action on payment of compensations to people whose land was taken to avoid encroachment.
