The two hundred and fifty-five laptops presented to schools in the municipality forms part of government “One laptop per child policy” which is being rolled out across the country. The measure is a major step towards improving accessibility and study of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in deprived communities.

Municipal Chief Executive, Simon Peter Asirifi was delighted at the presentation and commended government for taking this bold initiative to assist children from deprived communities to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of ICT which demand is on the increase at all levels of human endeavor.

He also indicated that the introduction of the practical study of ICT at the basic level shows government understanding of how to really tackle the problems of education in the country.

The MCE assured that the assembly would also play its role by proving other important facilities where necessary to make sure the laptops are put to good use. He thus urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that qualified teachers are provided to assist students in learning.
