Agbalevi LA Primary School in the Adaklu-Anyigbe District in the Volta Region is in a deplorable state and need urgent attention to save it from total collapse.
The school which was established in 1986 with mud and thatch has not seen any infrastructure improvement all these years.
The school which comprises of both primary and KG has a population of 187 at the primary level and 56 at KG 1 and 2 with eight teachers including the headteacher Mr. Dingle Dordzi Attipoe.
However, the future of these pupils’ education is uncertain following the deteriorating state of their school block.
With only a thatch roofed structure classroom block, the pupils are at the mercy of the weather and the school had to close anytime there is a sign of rainfall.
Hon. Dan Agbesi Latsu who is the assemblyman for the Keyime Elctoral Area where the school is located expressed frustration at the state of the school, adding, "if help does not come anytime soon, the worse would happen".
He said the school is also saddled with inadequate desks and other teaching and learning materials which would aid their academic work.
Mr Latsu therefore appealed to government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to offer the school any form of assistant especially in providing them with a befitting school block to boost the moral of the pupils.
