Ms. Bright said empowering women was not an act of charity but a strategic investment that strengthened families, communities, and nations.

She made the call in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day, celebrated under the theme: “Give to Gain.”

She explained that the theme highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for women to thrive, noting that when women succeeded, the benefits extended beyond individuals to society at large.

“When women are given the opportunity to rise, families rise, communities rise, and nations also rise,” she stated.

The Tema MCE emphasised that providing women with access to education and economic opportunities was essential to building a resilient and prosperous society.

She noted that empowering young girls to pursue their ambitions encouraged innovation and progress.

“When we give young girls the chance to dream, we give innovation; when we give women the opportunity to lead, we give progress,” she said.

Ms. Bright also stressed the importance of ensuring equal respect, protection, and opportunities for women, saying such measures would lead to a stronger and more inclusive society.

Reflecting on her role as the first female MCE of Tema, she said her appointment demonstrated the positive impact of trusting women with leadership responsibilities.

“As the first female mayor of Tema, I represent what this theme truly means. When women are trusted with leadership, we do not only rise; we lift communities with us,” she stated.

Ms. Bright called on individuals, institutions, and policymakers to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete actions to support women and girls across the country.

She urged stakeholders to work collectively towards building a Ghana where every woman had the support and opportunities needed to succeed.

“When we give to women, Ghana gains,” she said.
