Eighty-three Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Ketu North District in the Volta Region were given assistance through the Persons With Disability Fund ((PWF) last year, District Chief Executive, Claver Kofi Lawson has said.

Eighty-three Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Ketu North District in the Volta Region were given assistance through the Persons With Disability Fund ((PWF) last year, District Chief Executive, Claver Kofi Lawson has said.

He said a total amount of GHs48, 568.74 was disbursed as support for various needs of the including payment of medical bills for 7persons; school fees for 15 persons; and start-up capital for 61 persons.
  
The gesture was in line with the Disability Act which mandates district assemblies to allocate 2% of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) to persons living with disability in the districts.

The DCE urged beneficiaries especially those who accessed the fund for economic venture to make sure the monies are used for the right purpose in order to improve their income. This will help them fend for themselves and their families well.
