The Ketu North District Assembly is looking forward to adding some new development structures to existing ones to improve the lives of the people.

District Chief Executive for the District, Claver Kofi Lawson, told assembly members at a meeting that the assembly has awarded about seven new projects for construction this year.

The projects which are mostly to be funded with funds from the District Development Fund (DDF), others from GETFund and the MP’s common fund cuts across all sectors including provision of economic structures, school blocks and health facility.

Thenew projects are:

1.    Construction of 1 No. 3-unit classroom, office and store for Torvi DA Basic School

2.    Construction of 1 No. 16-unit market shed for Penyi Market

3.    Construction of 5 No. lockable stores for Weta Market

4.    Construction of 2No. 46m3 ferro cement tanks for Averkodomi and Agorve Basic Schools and rehabilitation of streetlights at Penyi-Akpatoeme

5.    Construction of 1 no. 3-unit classroom block with ancillary   facilities for Kporkuve JHS

6.    Construction of 1 No. 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for AMEE Zion Primary, Penyi

7.    Construction of maternity block for Ehi CHPS compound.

He also assured the house that the new projects will be going on alongside those started in 2013 and are currently at various stages of completion. Since most of them are at advance stages of completion, resources would be channeled to them for early completion to serve their purpose for the beneficiary communities or institutions. 

Ongoing projects

1.    Construction of bungalow for District Education Directorate

2.    USAID funded Education Directorate Office-landscaping and final painting in progress

3.    Construction of District Assembly’s Office complex- phase I-finishing works ongoing

4.    Construction of District Assembly’s Office complex-phase II-superstructure works ongoing

5.    Construction of 6-unit classroom with ancillary facilities at Kpelikope- superstructure completed

6.    Construction of U-drains and culvert at Kave

7.    Rehabilitation of Assembly’s guest house
