KETU N: Assembly to step up efforts to curb malaria
The Ketu North District Assembly in the Volta Region has vowed to do everything possible to mitigate the menace of malaria which is on the ascendancy within the district.

The Ketu North District Assembly in the Volta Region has vowed to do everything possible to mitigate the menace of malaria which is on the ascendancy within the district.
Malaria continues to top the list of top ten OPD diagnosis in the District; a situation which has become a source of worry to the district health directorate and the Ketu North District Assembly as a whole.
Revealing the above information in a sessional address by the DCE, Mr. Kofi Lawson at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly yesterday, Mr. Kofi said the Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service will very soon rollout a series of measures to help reduce drastically malaria issues within the district.
“For this reason, the Assembly through the Ghana Health Service is planning to increase education on malaria prevention and its control as well as step up the distribution of treated insecticide mosquito nets to households in our district,” he added.
Still on health, Mr. Lawson said the assembly would also provide more CHPs compounds as well as support existing ones and health centres to enable them solve the health needs of residents in the area.
Project completed in 2013
In his address, Mr. Lawson said “As you are aware, our Assembly has been undertaking a number of development projects under various funding to improve the living standards of our people”.
He highlighted at the meeting the number of completed projects which the Assembly undertook in 2013 and were currently being used to include:
- Construction of 1 no. 3unit classroom block, office and store at Ehi-Horme D/A basic school
- Construction of 1no.3unit classroom block, office and store at Wuti D/A basic school
- Construction 1 no.3 unit classroom block, office and store at Kuli D/A basic school
- Spot improvement of 2km road for Fiagbedu community (phase1 of 3no. culvert and filling of approaches)
- Rehabilitation of footbridge at Ahiayiborkorpe
- Construction of 1 no.6 seater institutional KVIP latrine for Tornu and construction of 1no. 46m Ferro-cement tank at Tsiyinu D/A basic school
- Construction of security fence, gate, lighting system at the Dzodze market and extension of Electricity to Dekpor CHPS compound
- Construction of CHPS compound at Sovie
- Construction of 3unit classroom block for Ablorme E,P, basic school
- Extension of potable water from Ehi to Weta Senior High Technical School
