Mr. Augustis Nii Lante Cleland, Western Regional Director of Education has tasked colleges of education to train and produce competent teachers for the countrys basic schools.

He said public schools were key in quality education delivery and economic enhancement and the role of a good teacher could not be underestimated in the countrys quest for accelerated development.

Mr. Cleland was speaking at the fifth graduation ceremony of the Enchi College of Education under the theme: Enhancing Quality Education in Ghana, the role of the Newly Trained Teachers.

The Western Regional of Education added that the quantum and quality of a countrys human resource based was most appropriate because well-developed and rightfully positioned human resources of a nation directly reflect the level of that nations development.

He added that quality education must be systematic and one that produces well educated individuals who can handle matters of concern within the areas of their studies proficiently.

Mr. Cleland said various education policy have therefore been designed to address redress qualified deficiency and social inequity.

He said the colleges need to design mechanisms to safeguard academic and professional standards that would promote learning opportunities for trainees and thereby turn out quality and dedicated teachers.

The principal of the college Madam Victoria Aidoo alluded to the collegess remarkable improvements in performances with respect to teaching and learning, faculty development, outreach for teacher development, projects and programmes as well as admissions.

It is gratifying to note that academic work on campus has been given a boost as tutors now adopt new approaches to teaching and integrate information communication technology in their tutoring processes, she added, she added.

The Enchi training college also has an ultra-modern centre made up of lecture halls, language laboratories, library, offices and washrooms.
