The Local Assembly of the Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) in Enchi in the Aowin District in the Western Region have given sick children in the Enchi Government Hospital a reason to smile again as they donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Children’s Ward.
This was done as part of activities to climax the children’s week celebration of the church which is hosted annually in all the local assemblies of the CAC within the country.
The donated items which were mainly toiletries and detergents includes; so kiln, omo, powders, pampers, liquid and solid soaps such as guardian, key soap, geisha soap, sunlight, saba soap, fanico, dettor, brilliant, etc.
Delivering the items on behalf of the Children’s ministry of the church, the District, Rev. Thomas Awuku Ayew said the donation forms part of the church’s cooperate social responsibility to extend a helping hand to the vulnerable in society.
“Although we go to the hospital to pray for the weak as well as the sick ones this is a token representing our love and concerns,” he added.
Receiving the items on behalf of management and staff of the hospital, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS), Madam Anna Ekuwa Essandoh was very grateful to children’s ministry and the CAC church as whole for the gesture.
Madam Essandoh used the opportunity to touch on some challenges the hospital was facing such as lack of cicatrix unit, congestion of the children’s ward and that of Out Patient Department (OPD).
She however appealed to cooperate bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Licensing cocoa Buying Companies (LBC’s) and individuals to come to the aid of the hospital since government alone cannot shoulder all these responsibilities.
Miss Blessing Adjoa Kwaw, the president and the counselor of the children in the church said children were more dear to the heart of Christ and as they celebrate their annual week in the church, they have to extend it to their colleagues who found themselves sick and admitted at the hospital.
“It was our hope and prayer that the good Lord would heal them as they soon join us at home,” she added.
