Three assemblies in Brong-Ahafo Region have appealed to the government to site a proposed College of Education in their areas.

This came out when Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, paid a day’s working visit to each of the Assemblies to find out how Government funds to them for developmental projects had been used.

Almost all the traditional rulers in those areas made the same appeal when the Regional Minister and his entourage paid separate courtesy calls on them.

The chiefs were Nana Kwasi Bosompem 11, the Paramount chief of Goaso, , Osuodumgya Appiah Dwaa-Boafo 11, the Paramount Chief of Hwidiem and Agyewodin Adu Gyamfi Ampem, the Paramount Chief of Acherensua.

The others were Nana Wireko Ampem of Kukuom, Nana Atta Mensah 11of Dadiesoaba, Nana Owusu Kontoh 11 of Mehame and Nana Okofo Tabiri Gyansa 111 of Sankore.

The traditional leaders also congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for exhibiting the qualities of a leader as well as the entire government machinery for ensuring evenly distribution of the national cake.

Responding to their request about the location of the proposed College of Education, Mr. Aidoo appealed to the chiefs to write formal applications to the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC)in Sunyani to be forwarded to Accra for consideration.

He however informed them that the Government had already set up a committee to determine which areas in the 10 regions of the country based on some criteria qualified for the proposed Colleges of Education.

Wherever he visited, Mr. Aidoo inspected on-going Ghana Education Trust Fund/Assembly projects and inaugurated those already completed.

Mr. Aidoo expressed dissatisfaction about shoddy work by a Sunyani-based contractor, Sabee Construction Limited, on the upgrading of a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound to a Health Centre centre at Nkasiem in the Asutifi South District.

He ordered temporary suspension of work on the project and asked Mr. Modestus Newosu, the District Chief Executive and Mr. Sadat Iddi Alhassan, the District Engineer, to arrange for the contractor to meet him at the RCC. immediately.
