The Goaso Midwifery Training School in the Asunafo North Municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region has recorded some improvement in infrastructure.

Established in 2010, the school continued to battle with inadequate infrastructure, a situation that compelled the municipal assembly and the corporate sector to intervene to provide some relieve to the teaching and the student population.

At the commissioning of a new 2-unit classroom block with auxiliary facilities, and administrative block built by the Municipal Assembly and Mendelez International Cocoa life, the Principal of the school, Hajia Ahalima Opoku Hammed said the school seriously needed some level of intervention to overcome the many challenges confronting it. Notably, hostel facility, classroom blocks, tutors accommodation and current midwifery books to encourage students to use the library for research.

The challenges notwithstanding, the school can boost of well-equipped skills laboratory for practical session with items donated by JHPIEGO, and ICT centre with 15 computers and accessories.

Hajia Hammed was grateful to the municipal assembly, the Goaso Traditional Council and Mendelez International Cocoalife for their support and called on government, the Ministry of Health to come to the aid f the school to achieve the purpose for which it was established.
