Mr Hakeeb Dauda was on Wednesday approved as the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive.

Mr Dauda, a former Wenchi Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), got 35 votes out of 41 in the first round of voting.

The assembly, however, failed to elect its Presiding Member (PM) as none of the two contestants were able to secure the two thirds of votes.

They were Mr Joseph Awuah, incumbent PM and Mr Prince Henne, a former PM.

Mr Dauda thanked the assembly members and said he was optimistic that with unity and effective collaboration, the Municipality would witness a speedy development.
