Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly has been undertaking development projects within the past two years to improve the livelihood of the people and to promote education.

The projects being financed by the Common and the District Development funds include upgrading of Breman Brakwa MarketI, construction of a market at Breman Baako and rehabilitation of Agona Odoben market.

Others are completion of three-unit classroom block at Breman Jamera, completion of class room blocks with ancillary facilities at Breman Yenkkwa and Adumanu as well as 16 communities in the district to benefit from the National Electrification Project under the poverty oriented grid extension.

Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, District Chief Executive, said this at an emergency meeting of the assembly at Breman Asikuma.

He said the projects became possible due to the hard work and commitment of the former DCE for the area now the Member of Parliament for the district, Mrs. Georgina Nkrumah Aboah.

He appealed to assembly members in the project areas to constantly monitor progress of work and report any shoddy work for further action.

Mr. Botchway said as part of efforts to sustain boreholes in the district, management had decided that each borehole shall be managed by the water and sanitation committees (WATSAN) in the communities.

Under agriculture, he said the economic fortunes of the district were directly linked to the growth and improvement of agriculture which, if well managed, could generate enough internal revenue to support their budget.

Mr Botchway said because agriculture had been treated as a way of life and not as business, its real impact had not been felt, adding that the district could become the grain basket of the Central Region.

He said he would launch a programme in the district to push for this dream to be realized.
