Mrs. Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, the Chief Executive of the Asikuma/ Odoben/ Brakwa District in the Central Region has emphasized that government has step-up efforts to ensure the connection of deprived communities to the national grid.
She said government’s idea to extend electricity to every part of the country has so far yielded positive results in the district as most communities have undoubtedly benefited from the national cake.
The DCE revealed that new 15 contracts have been awarded to extend electricity to the deprived communities.
Beneficiary communities include Awusikwa, Mpakyem, Wasabriampa, Ekurakase, Supuano Otabilkwa, Saviour Town Abekese-Abayaakese and Attu-Dawda, among others.
The DCE further noted that the recent figure of deprived communities who have been connected to the grid since the NDC assumed power in 2009 totals 37.
However the DCE made the disclosure when reading her keynote address at an assembly sitting held at Breman Asikuma, the district capital.
Mrs. Nkrumah Aboah therefore urged members of the assembly to rally behind the ruling party to enable it complete its numerous projects.
