About Ten Community Health Nurses in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa district in the Central Region have received training on Sexual and Reproductive Health Advocacy and communication strategies.

The three day training was aimed at equipping the nurses who were selected from ten CHPs Zones to advocate against identified Negative Sexual and Reproductive Health issues affecting women and girls, and non-attendance of Ante Natal Clinics by pregnant women in their communities.

The training was organized and funded by Hope for Future Generations, a non-governmental organization who has been operating in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District for the past six years.

The District Public Health director, Mrs, Getrude Mensah Addo, commended HFFG for organizing the events and pleaded with the beneficiaries to mind their attitude towards patients and also act in professional manner.  She also educated the beneficiaries on the use of female condoms and Counseling on family Planning methods.

In a related development, Hope for Future Generations in collaboration with the Kromaim CHPS compound had established an adolescent youth club and Centre in Ajumako-Kromaim in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district.

Speaking at the event, the assembly member for the area, Noah Osei-Asenso expressed appreciation to the organization for their kind gesture and further called for more of such supports.

“Most of the children today confide in their friends than their parents due to the time they spend together. Their parents, due to economic hardships spend a less time in the home and hardly find time to interact properly with their children”.

He stated. He tasked the members of the club to behave in a manner that will distinguish them from non-members by putting into practice knowledge that they will acquire from the use of the facility.
