Mr. Paul Aboagye Dadzie, Birim North District Chief Executive (DCE), has said work on the 41-kilometre road linking New Abirem to Nkawkaw will begin in November.

Speaking at the second ordinary meeting of the third session of the Assembly at New Abirem, Mr Dadzie said GH¢246,047.57 has been released as its share of the first quarter of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) for 2013.

He said GH¢27,115.04 has been received as the constituency’s allocation fund popularly known as the MP’s Common Fund.

Mr Dadzie said the Assembly’s expenditure as at September stood at GH¢241,117.57, while GH¢257,390.37 representing 63.6 percent out of the estimated revenue of GH¢404,710.00 for Internally Generated Fund (IGF), was collected.

He said since the developmental needs of the Assembly are many and the district cannot solely depend on the DACF, a massive collection of IGF in addition to property rate wouldl be embarked upon next year.

Mr Dadzie appealed to members as well as residents of the district to co-operate with the Assembly to achieve that feat.

He mentioned a number of on-going projects in the district which he said   include classroom blocks in some communities like Afosu, Kyenkyenku, Oworomra, Noyem, Asuobena and Pankese.

On electrification the DCE said names of 11 communities had been submitted to the Ministry of Energy for consideration to be connected to the national grid.

He, however, expressed worry that wooden poles supplied to some communities for electrification were still idle.

Mr Dadzie, therefore, urged assembly members to get them erected under the technical supervision of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at New Abirem.

Mr. Isaac Adjah, Presiding Member of the Assembly, thanked members for electing him into office for the second term, and for also unanimously confirming Mr. Dadzie as DCE .

He urged the assembly members to eschew partisan politics in their deliberations, asking them to unite and always think about the development of the district first.
