The old junior high school block for the Hweakwae Community in the
Birim North District in the Eastern Region is to be replaced with a new modern one, the assemblyman for the area, Bernard Owusu-Boateng has disclosed.

According to him, the project is at the tendering stage as all other considerations including the drawing have been concluded. The
Assemblyman also expressed delight and gratitude to Newmont for
accepting their request for the project.

The three unit classroom block will also include staff common room,
library, ICT centre, and water closet toilet facility.

Newmont Ghana Limited has a large mining concession in Hweakwae and the gesture is one of their corporate social responsibilities.
