Ghana is benefiting alongside with fifteen other countries like Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger which had been considered to implement Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) project in West Africa. 

The project is designed to ascertain climatic hazards such as drought, storms, floods in the communities and their level of complexities when these natural disasters occur, strategies to fight them and whether external support would be needed. 

Some of the beneficiary communities in Ghana include Doggoh, Jefiri, Bazu and Kulkaani in the Jirapa District while Bompaari, Orbili and Tuori in the Lawra district were also named amongst the beneficiary areas.

Two bodies which are the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Savannah Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) are implementing the project, and are ostensibly tackling how communities in the Upper West Region could adapt to climate change to increase agricultural production and food security.

To this end, a workshop was organised at Jirapa to share information on findings on climate change adaptation in Doggoh community with representatives from relevant Agencies in Jirapa and Lawra districts.

The project which begun last year with land surveys and gender studies on how climate change affects women, would practically last for 10 years.
