World Vision, an International Non Governmental Organization (NGO), has donated health equipment worth 75,000 dollars to the Jirapa and Nadowli District Hospitals in the Upper West Region.
They are two electronic examination machines, some theatre equipment and non consumable drugs.
Others are Biology books including the teachers guide for both students and teachers at the senior high school (SHS) level.
Mr Francis Mensah, Jirapa Area Development Programme Manager for World Vision, who presented the items to Madam Vivien Nelly Kunko, Jirapa District Chief Executive, said the gesture was part of the organisations effort towards enhancing quality healthcare delivery in rural communities.
He said World Vision also believed that the challenges confronting the health and education sectors were so enormous that government alone could not address them, hence, the need for partners to support.
Madam Kunko, expressed gratitude to World Vision and said that kind of support was what government required from the private sector in order to improve the standard of living of the people.
She appealed to Madam Phoebe Balagum, District Director of Health Services, and the District Director of Education, Madam Dominica Dassah, to ensure that the items were put to judicious use and maintained.
Madam Phoebe and Madam Dassah lauded World Vision for the donation and that the equipment would enhance proper examination of patients while the books would promote the study of science at the SHS level in the district.
