The intervention of the District Chief Executive for Jirapa, Vivien-Nelly Kunko has saved caterers engaged under the school feeding programme in the district from being swindled.

Our source at the district disclosed that each caterer was made to pay GH70 to the regional coordinator of the programme towards the administration of the programme and for settling some leaders in Accra.

However, when the DCE got wind of the development she stopped the payment and ordered refund of the money to the caterers describing it as illegal. She indicated that no official at the district was notified on the payment before it was instituted.

According to her, ideally, any such directive from the regional coordinating council should first have come to the district assembly but nothing like that happened. “I got curious when the caterers started calling me to inform me of when they will come to settle the amount”, the DCE said.

According to her, she had to summon the Regional Coordinator before the regional minister to have the issue properly settled.
