For sometime now this has generated a lot of concern with several calls directed at district assemblies and environmental health officers in the various assemblies to provide suitable abattoirs and improve supervisions.
In view of this a number of district assemblies took up the challenge to save the lives of consumers of meat by investing in the sector.
The Karaga District Assembly is no exception as it has successfully completed an abattoir for butchers in the District.
This would not only safeguard consumers but also help those whose economic fortunes is dependent on it to keep their job as those who have stopped patronizing for unhygienic reasons would come back to enjoy their delicacies.
The Abattoir situated at Pisheigu would ensure that animals are well examined by appropriate authorities before being slaughtered and again monitored through the processing until it is ready for the market.
