The Kogri Junction portion of the Tampoe-Kpare road in the Jirapa District has been badly affected by heavy downpour in the area.
Some residents living around the area have disclosed that transportation on that stretch has become difficult as a result of a bridge which was utterly destroyed due to the heavy downpour.
A concerned citizen who is also the Assemblyman for Kpare electoral area, Mr. Calluistus Ambulleh, briefing Ghanadistricts.com on the issue, maintained that the road is a major link to Jirapa from Lambussie-Karni district, which travelers use frequently. “But on account of this unfortunate incidence it has virtually become impossible for motorists to access the road”, he added.
He reiterated that most affected road users are bigger trucks and Metro Mass Transit buses that feared the bridge will collapse under them due to their weight.
However, the District Chief Executive for the Jirapa district, Bernard K. Puozuing, in his reaction pointed out that he had already directed the Department of Feeder Roads for prompt action on the road.
As a result of this, he said a team of Engineers from feeder roads and the Assembly yesterday visited the place to get clear information on the situation and also examine the problem.
He therefore asked residents and commuters who normally use the road to exercise restraint as efforts are made to solve the problem.
