The District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma, Anthony Nyame has denied rumours that he has awarded a School Feeding Program contract to his female lover.

He said the contract was awarded to the caterer Leticia Opoku, who satisfied the criteria for selection and dismissed claims that the said woman was contracted due to the fact that she was his girlfriend.

The DCE was quick to add that every Ghanaian is qualified to bid for the contract, irrespective of the person’s political affiliation once the person is found to be capable of doing the job.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme on Thursday 6th October 2011, Anthony Nyame explained that an independent committee set up by the Assembly and charged with the duty of selecting caterers concluded that two caterers should be awarded the contract to cook for the over 400 pupils.

The DCE alleged that another caterer whose name was given only as Vivian, who is wife of the NDC Constituency Vice Chairman Antwi Agyei, who did not take kindly to the committee’s decision, got angry and destroyed food ready to be served to the pupils.

According to the DCE, Vivian had alleged that Leticia Opoku was an NPP sympathizer and found it difficult to understand why the contract be awarded to her.

Anthony Nyame stated that Vivian and her husband, who is also the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency Vice Chairman for the NDC party, have cooked baseless stories against him simply to discredit him just because he has filed to contest for the parliamentary slot on the ticket of the NDC in the area, which the Vice Chairman disapproves because he (Vice chairman ) supports another aspirant.
