Philip Attah, an 18-year-old telephonist, has been remanded in police custody by a circuit court in Cape Coast for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old junior high school student at Mepeasem, a suburb of Assin-Foso.

Attah pleaded guilty but his sentencing was deferred to August 3 to enable the victim and the mother to be in court.

Superintendent of Police Godact Dodzi Hzordzi told the court that Madam Beatrice Arhin lives with the victim as her house help at Mepeasem.

On July 01 Madam Arhin woke-up from sleep at about 2330 hours and realised that the victim was not in bed and all efforts to find her were to no avail.

He said the victim came home at about 0400 hours and when she was questioned as to where she had been, she did not give any reply and left home again.

Later in the day, Madam Arhin spotted the victim in town and took her to the police station where the victim told the police that she had been defiled by Attah.

Superintendent Hzordzi said Attah admitted the offence on his arrest but however told the police that the victim was his girlfriend.
