The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assin North municipal assembly, Mr Kwabena Karikari-Apau, has said the assembly hopes to collect a total of GH¢166.339.00 from its internally generated revenue sources this year.
He said the Assembly has put in place measures to enable it to achieve the set target and that as at the end of the first quarter, 40 percent of the figure had already been realized.
Mr Karikari-Apau disclosed this when he addressed the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the Assin North municipal assembly at Assin Foso.
He said last year, the assembly collected GH¢128,941.86 from its internally generated revenue sources, representing 98.2 percent of the targeted figure of 131,286.00, adding that, this was by far an improvement over their performance in 2006, where the assembly realized only 75 percent of its target.
Mr Karikari-Apau said the assembly would receive GH¢995,618.50 as its share of the common Fund this year and that GH¢89,354.83, being the first quarter allocation, have been released to the assembly.
He said all projects to uplift the district and improve the standards of living of the people were on course, and that it would commit resources and mobilize the necessary support for the projects.
The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Mr Kennedy Agyepong, who addressed the house, said he has initiated 37 development projects in his constituency with his share of the common, as well as the GetFund and donations from his own resources.
The projects he said include the construction of classroom blocks and hostel for educational institutions and that he has also sponsored 68 students at the senior high schools and tertiary institutions.
