Before the construction of the facility, residents had to travel long distances to communities such as Amankokwaa, Koraso and Berekum to access healthcare, affecting timely access to medical services.

Mr. Asomah said the project was funded through the District's share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and formed part of the Assembly's efforts to bring quality healthcare closer to residents.

Speaking at a brief inauguration ceremony at Adom, he said the Assembly had prioritised healthcare delivery and would continue to support the successful implementation of the Government's Free Primary Healthcare Programme to ensure residents benefited from improved access to essential health services.

He added that the Assembly was also committed to improving other critical sectors, including sanitation, education, road infrastructure and access to potable drinking water.

The DCE further pledged the Assembly's commitment to completing abandoned development projects and ensuring that they were handed over for public use.

He urged residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the facility to ensure its sustainability and continued service to the community.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West, Mr. Dickson Kyere Duah, said the clinic fulfilled a major campaign promise he made to the people during the 2024 general election.

He also assured residents that the abandoned Adom-Tewbaabi road project would soon be re-awarded to a new contractor following the identification of breaches in the previous contract, which resulted in the suspension of work.

Mr. Duah indicated that the new contract would also cover the Tewbaabi-Abisaase road project to improve road connectivity within the area.

The Berekum West District Director of Health, Mr. Kennedy Ohene, commended the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the facility would provide maternal healthcare, family planning services and other general healthcare interventions.

He, however, appealed for the establishment of a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration centre at the clinic to make health insurance services more accessible to residents.

The Chief of Adom, Nana Yeboah Asuamah Kukudabi II, expressed appreciation to the Assembly and the MP for responding to the healthcare needs of the community.

He appealed to the authorities to construct a market to support local economic activities and urged the MP to facilitate the reconstruction of the dilapidated bridge linking Adom and Mpatasie to improve transportation and movement of goods and services.

The inauguration of the clinic is expected to ease the burden on residents who previously travelled long distances to access healthcare and strengthen the delivery of essential medical services within the Adom community.
