School heads in the Akatsi North District in the Volta Region have been directed to take necessary measures to obtain the right land boundaries of their schools for proper documentation and protection.

District Chief Executive, James Gunu who gave the directive when he met with heads of basic schools in the district said there was a need to avert any encroachment to school lands and other land properties belonging to the assembly so that the assembly and government would not have any problem developing those lands in future.

The heads are to meet with the people who released lands for the establishment of the schools and get detail information on the conditions under which the lands were released. This, the DCE noted was important to clear any doubt in the minds of people over the lands. As such the school heads are to supervise planting of trees on the compound especially on the boundaries to serve as wind breaks and demarcations.

Additionally, Mr. Gunu advised the heads to improve sanitation in the schools by proving waste bins at vantage points to encourage the students to dispose off their refuse properly.

Touching on the school feeding programme, the DCE charged the school implementation committee to as a matter of urgency ensure the caterers put to use the new knowledge acquired to improve the quality of food served the students. Currently, 12 schools are benefiting from the programme with about 2,500 pupils.
