District Chief Executive of the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam District, Peter Light Koomson has observed that with the right attitude and commitment on the part of revenue collectors and adoption of new techniques by management, the assembly would be able to meet its revenue targets.
The Assembly failed to meet its internally generated revenue target of GHc146, 643.00for 2013 having managed to mobilize only GHs133, 410.62 representing 90.98%. However, during the same period, the assembly spent GHs125, 911.18 representing 94.4% of the 133, 410.62. This the DCE attributed to prudent financial management put in place by management.
The DCE also disclosed at the meeting with the assembly members that one hundred and sixty-five thousand five hundred and fifty-nine cedis forty-two pesewas (GHs165, 559.52) was received as its share of the 3rd quarter release of the 2013 District Assemblies Common Fund.
More so, the district has for the fifth consecutive time been successful in the 2012 Functional Organisational Assessment Tool (FOAT) in 2012 and is due to receive GHs666, 269.00 (GHs617,629.00 being Investment Grant and GHs48, 640.00 for capacity Grant ) as its share of the District Development Fund.
He commended the entire management team for their hard work and commitment to the course of the assembly and urged them to prepare adequately for the 2013 assessment scheduled to take place soon.
In 2014, the assembly has targeted GHs165, 363.00 as IGF and has at the end of March 2014, mobilized GHs23, 060.00 representing 55.78 of the first quarter target of GHs41, 340.75. Already, the assembly’s expenditure of GHs44,872.60 exceeded revenue for the same period but was attributed to loan facility of GHs20,000 contracted to take care of evacuation of refuse at Esiam among others as well as independence anniversary.
Mr. Koomson is however hopeful shortfalls in the first quarter notwithstanding, they will be able to meet their revenue target this year.
