The Fanteakwa District Assembly has taken its commitment to increasing access to education and improves quality of education in the district to a new height by ensuring that through its own small way, a new senior high school is built.

Taking cue from the central government’s resolve to build 200 new community senior high schools which have already began,   the assembly is also taking steps to amend its budget for 2014 to include the establishment of community senior high school at Dorminase, one of the rural communities in the Fanteakwa District.

“We are adding at least one SHS to the number the government intends to build before the end of its mandate in 2016”, the District Chief Executive Abass Fuseini Sbaabe has stated.

According to him, the idea is ‘crazy’. “It is ’crazy’ because we don’t know where the funds are going to come from. We are determined to squeeze water out of stones to initiate these projects and to get them complete within 20 months”, he stated.

Mr. Abass Fuseini also indicated that they will not sacrifice this project for any other, adding that they will as much as possible enroll all well meaning individuals or corporate organizations who share in their vision to transform Fanteakwa to join them to help reduce the burden of on the people in the district.

Still on infrastructure development, the DCE announced that plans to build 12 units affordable staff bungalows at Begoro the district capital to deal with accommodation challenges of workers in the district.

The project when executed is hoped to also contribute to retaining workers in the district to enhance sustainable development.
