Four communities in the Kumasi metropolis are beneficiaries of an initiative by city authorities to address health, security and transportation challenges confronting the people.

The metropolitan assembly has spent nearly three million Ghana cedis to construct new roads, a clinic and a police station in separate locations across the four communities.

A new link of 4.5 kilometers from Atafua, Abuohia and the main Offinso-Barekese Road cost 2.3 million Ghana cedis to demarcate and construct, according to city authorities.

Residents of Nwamasi now have a clinic with a doctor’s bungalow - both constructed at a cost about 319 thousand Ghana cedis.

A police station built at the cost of about 219 Ghana cedis is expected to bring security to people of Atwima Techiman.

Until the construction of the road at Atafoa, school children walked through bushy footpaths to and from school.

Chief of the town, Nana Owusu Ansah II says the intervention will also rid the area of armed robbers and other criminals.

During an inspection tour to the various communities, the people of Nwamsi, led by the chief, appealed to City Mayor , Kojo Bonsu, for medical equipment for the newly-built clinic.

Mr Bonsu told them of plans to use revenue to be generated from the facility to improve the livelihoods of the people.
